This weaving needle is an essential component in the traditional weaving process.
Each of the three weaving needles is elongated, slender, and pointed at both ends, resembling a small shuttle. This aerodynamic design allows the needle to glide smoothly between the warp threads (the vertical threads) on the loom. The material is solid wood in varying shades of brown, showing signs of age and traces of long use.
At the center of each weaving needle is an elongated cavity designed to hold a small bobbin or spool containing the weft thread (the horizontal thread). In addition, small holes located on the sides and ends of the needle serve as pathways for the thread to pass through as the tool moves back and forth across the warp threads.
